We made so much progress so quickly the first day of Rock Camp that we all just assumed the second day would be just as great. Not so much. At least not across the board. Today we were reminded just how difficult this program is to execute. The realization that we have a lot of work to do hit the instructors today. Both instructors and kids had some great moments, but also experienced some frustration.
The frustration comes from a sort of battle of song selection that each of the bands goes through as they try to figure out what songs they want to play, what songs they are able to play, and who gets the lead parts in the songs. The final performance will eventually feature each kid in some way, but getting the initial line up of songs is … well… frustrating. Nevertheless, we push forward. Once we get our core songs picked and the focus changes to rehearsal, things get more fun again.
Lena and installed the Rock Stars (pictured above with the kids) in downtown Houghton today. They looked really great. What’s cool is they take on the texture of what’s underneath so they really blend into the sidewalk as well. Hopefully it helps bring people to the show.

Okay… its 12:07AM. I’m tired of this place and heading home.
